A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

I started reading this book because I had heard a lot of great reviews. I couldn’t wait to find out what I found about A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I have always liked a good crime or mystery story and was hoping this would be one of those.

The book is about a girl named Pippa who lives in the town of Fairview. In this town, a teenage girl, Andie Bell, was killed five years ago by her boyfriend, who a few days later took his own life. Pippa goes to the same high school as the two dead students, and she just can’t shake the feeling that the story isn’t as it seems. She knew Andie’s boyfriend, Sal, when she was little and felt like he would never do such a thing. Pippa chooses the murder as her final school project to prove that Sal has always been innocent.

“I found these statistics: 80% of missing people are found in the first twenty-four hours. 97% are found in the first week, and 99% of the cases are resolved in the first year. That leaves just 1% 1% of people who disappear are never found. And just 0.25% of all missing persons cases have a fatal outcome.”

It is a very exciting book to read, with a lot of rule-breaking, investigation, and talking to people she shouldn’t talk to. There’s something happening on every page, and there are more plot twists than I could ever think of. The book gets even more exhilarating when Pippa starts getting treats, and someone wants her to stop her digging into the murder.

I loved this book. I wasn’t able to lay down this book, and before I was even halfway through, I went to the bookstore to buy the second and third in the trilogy. This week, I was happy when it was raining so I could cuddle up in a blanket with a steaming cup of tea and my book. I literally took the book with me everywhere I went.

“I’m irrationally serious.” Pip smiled, holding the Tupperware out to him. “And I made muffins?” “Like bribery muffins?” “That’s what the recipe said, yeah.”

I have to finish another book I started first, but after that, I am jumping right back into this world with the second book. I heard the news that there is a TV series about this book, and I am definitely going to watch that one—probably twice or more.

I can’t recommend this book enough and it’s definitely a new favorite of mine. I can not give this book anything less than 5 stars.
