Crave by Tracy Wolff
The next audiobook I chose was Crave by Tracy Wolff. I needed a book that was fun and easy to listen to, and this book was definitely that. It gave me vampire diaries, Teen Wolf, and Twilight vibes, and after reading some reviews of other people, I am not the only one who feels this way.
Crave is about a girl named Grace. After her parents died, she had to live with her uncle and cousin at her uncle’s boarding school. However, this boarding school wasn’t like a regular school. Its location is in very cold Alaska, and the students walk outside without jackets or other protection against the cold.
“If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.”
Tracy Wolff, Crave
As the genre of paranormal romance suggests, the students at this school aren’t entirely regular. The school contains vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks and even dragons. It’s not something you typically see at a high school, but Grace doesn’t know that. She isn’t told about this when she first arrives at school, which sets off a series of events that could have been avoided.
We follow Grace as she has to find her place in Alaska, at the boarding school all while giving her parents dead a place. We see her fall in love and learn about the dangerous secrets surrounding her and the school.
“There’s not much to be afraid of when you’ve already lost everything that matters.”
Tracy Wolff, Crave
The writing style is a bit youthful, but that is to be expected with a YA book, and this didn’t really bother me. The plot is fast-paced, and I went through it quite quickly. It was a bit too easy to guess where the story was going to go. I loved that all the characters were fascinating, and most of them were even likable, even though they had some flaws and dark secrets. Throughout the whole book, I wanted to know how my favourite characters were doing and where they were getting themselves into.
I am definitely going to read the other books in the series because this one ended on quite a cliffhanger.
It isn’t a 5-star book yet, but I still loved it, so I’m going to give it 4 stars.
