Crush by Tracy Wolff
It has been a little while since I listened to the first book of this series, Crave. It was time to start the second one before I had forgotten all about the first one. I hoped I would have as much fun listening to this one as I did with the last.
This book begins with a bit of a jump since the last book ended. We follow Grace while she comes to terms with what and who she is without knowing what happened in the last few months. Her relationship with Jaxon is put under a lot of stress when a new challenge arrives, and with Jaxon’s brother, Hudson, “back” in the world, things get a lot more complicated.
“I’ll never make you choose, Grace. How could I when I know that you’d never choose me?”

I didn’t like this book as much as the last one. Something about the characters made it hard for me to like them. I loved Jaxon’s character in the last book, but he has changed 180 degrees since then, which I was pretty sad about. I am glad his brother, Hudson, was there to pick up the slack because he was the only one who made this book somewhat enjoyable.
The plot was a bit too simple for my liking. At only 20% into the book, I guessed how the characters would end up, and there wasn’t all that much that surprised me. There were quite a few moments when I was at the point of dnf-ing this book.
“Not when the last time he was happy, he was plotting a hostile takeover of half the paranormal world.” “You wound me. It was at least three-quarters.”

I think this series is going to get annoying fast for me. I like the character and the plot, but I dislike some of the details. All the chapter titles are irritating me because they’re supposed to be funny, but they are giving away way too much. The other thing that is taken away from my reading experience is all the references to other books, films and TV series. I would have liked them if there were only a few and if they had been hidden very well, but in this book, it’s more like they just threw them in there without really thinking about it.
I am sorry but this book is only going to get 2 stars.
