Sick and a whole lot to do…

This was not the best week for us. The first half of the week my boyfriend got sick and after I few days it was my turn, sadly enough. It did not take us out for very long. Sunday we got back to our normal days.

We first had to fix the vegetable garden, because on the days we were lying sick on the couch the chickens made a little bit of a mess off it. We went to the shop to get some supplies and started working on it.

We made a frame of wood and netting to protect the seeds and plants. The front is still open because I will have to find a way to close it off while still being able to access it quickly. I believe the chickens did get a little mad about it, but after redecorating their front yard they were quite happy again. It is now a great place to have a roll around.

The garden back next to the original garden is for the potatoes. After a few weeks in the windowsill, they got lots of sprouts and were ready to be planted outside.

When we were at the shop, they had strawberry plants in the sale and we couldn’t resist taking some with us. We gave them a sunny spot in the garden and will have to find a way to protect them from the chickens when the strawberries start to grow.

As the chickens did not rest while we were, there now were way too many eggs. The organizers in the fridge were overflowing and the best way to use eggs is most certainly to bake a cake.
