Straight to Norway! Or not…
At 11 oclock we left our home and went on our way. It didn’t take long to get to the lock. To get through the lock took a hole lot longer. Almost two hours to be precise. A lot of waiting and a lot of time to get nervous.
After the lock it al went quite smoothly. We did have to motor a few times, because the wind was coming from right in front of us. But most of it we could do on sail.
At around 5 pm we were in between Terschelling and Vlieland and ready to go onto the North Sea. The way the sea behaved was extremely different when we got out onto it.
After 2.5 hours rolling against the wind and the waves, we decided to turn around and go back. It was almost impossible to sail with this wind direction and it would get difficult to get to Denmark or Norway in time before the next storm would hit. And we don’t think we could handle another 1.5 day of rolling, because we got quite seasick already.
At 8 o’clock we arrived at Vlieland and we will stay the night here before deciding what we are going to do next.
