Five Survive by Holly Jackson

After finishing The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare I new I needed a book by one of my other favorite authors to not fall in a reading slump. One of these great authors is Holly Jackson and I happed to have one of her books catching dust on my bookshelf.

We follow Red and her friends over eight hours. They are on a road trip in an RV. It has already been a long drive, but everybody is in a great mood till the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Without phone reception, there is nobody to call for help. After the tires are shot out, one by one, they realise that this isn’t an accident. Outside in the dark is a sniper. Watching every move they make. He knows who they are, and one secret can save them all. But who has it, and is this person willing to tell?

“His whole life has been a war, that does something to your head, I think. It's done something to my head.”

Holly Jackson, Five Survive

I started this book once before, and after ten pages decided that I wasn’t in the right mood. The day I started this book for the second time, I was in the right mood and was locked in for the next three days. This book keeps on giving, with high stakes all the way through and a plot twist I didn’t expect at all. I arrived too late at three different appointments this week, because I had to read one more line, one more chapter before I could get myself to lay down the book.

“One sniper. One gun. One red dot. And one liar.”

Holly Jackson, Five Survive

I loved this book and I have no other choice but to give it five stars.
