The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare

When I saw this book on the table in a bookstore before the release date, I knew I had to take it home. They only had one left, so I think we were destined to be together. As someone who picks up every book Cassandra Clare has written and will ever write, this felt like the best moment of the week.

The Ragpicker King is the second book in the Chronicles of Castellane series. A series set in the city of Castellane in which we follow Kel Saren. Kel is the sword catcher, body double of the prince, Conor. Kel becomes entangled in a conspiracy threatening the royal family, leading him to the city's underworld and its enigmatic ruler, the Ragpicker King. Other than Kel we follow Lin, who has to face trials to prove her claim as the Goddess Reborn. Something that isn’t the only thing on her mind as she is struggling with her feelings for Prince Conor. A forbidden love that shouldn’t be.

‘It’s just above the artery. A bit deeper and…’ ‘I would have bled out,’ said Ken. ‘rather dramatically, on a rooftop. An unpleasant surprise for the homeowners.’

I loved this book as much as I loved the first book in the series and even though I took quite some time to read it this wasn’t because I didn’t like it. I needed to savor every moment on every page and didn’t want to get to the last page.

‘I was so lonely I considered drowning myself in this fountain, but the water is full of frogs.’

Now I have a big problem because I finished this book and I found out that the next one doesn’t have a release date yet. I hope so it going to be a short wait, but if I have to wait three years to get a great book I will do that.

This book will obliviously get 5 stars.
