The Iyanndyre Born by Anne Sostman

A few weeks back I got an email from Booksirens with the question if I would be interested in reading and reviewing this book. I find in an honor to be able to read books by Authors that aren’t known worldwide yet and this one looks particularly interesting. This book will be coming out at the end of April so to be able to read in advance makes it extra special.

The Iyanndyre Born is about two siblings, Rioyn and Ayva Orro. Two twins both at the brink of turning eighteen and having to choose where they want to go and train at the Sansyre University. Rioyn will join the Order of Soldiers as he is a gifted fighter, but to do this he will have to deceive his father who doesn’t want him to join. Ayva finds out and doesn’t want to cover him like she usually has to do. Before starting at the University the twins have to compete in the tournament at the Festival of Seivan. They trained hard for the tournament but did they train hard enough for what’s coming next as the Starless Army arrives and strikes with vengeance right into the family. Rioyn and Ayva will have to work together to defeat the Starless Army and the darkness they bring with them.

“Finding something and embracing it are two different things. You must accept the Iyanndyre Born in order for the Iyanndyre Born to be realized.”

I liked the build-up of this book, but I felt it was a bit rushed in the end. I would have enjoyed the book more if it had been a bit more balanced out. The story was intriguing and kept me wanting to read longer than I had time to read. I went to bed a few times too late while reading this book. What irritated me was how fast the twins seemed to be able to do things they never knew they even could do. I get that they have the gift or something like that but it seems a bit that they hear they should be able to do something and they do it without a single mistake on their first try. I believe I would have made the magic more interesting if they struggled a bit with it.

“Everything will all work out in the end. What’s meant for you will always be for you”

Other than the small criticisms I have on the book I still enjoyed reading it. The way the characters are written could be better, but it’s still a book I would recommend. I would give this book 3 stars.
