Day eight: London
We woke up in Windermere with this beautiful sunrise in de garden of the hotel. Peter Rabbit was already on his way to the carrots in the garden after eating al the lettuce and we went on our way after eating some warm toast with egg.
On our way to London, we came by the Royal Air Force museum, close to Birmingham. My boyfriend was going completely crazy here as they had a lot of airplanes and I got told the whole history, when they flew for the first time, who flew them, and where they flew. We didn’t even have to read the descriptions. I read a few and they all checked out with what he was telling me.
At sunset, we arrived in London and after checking into our hotel room we went into the city to get some dinner and a pub and to see the city in the dark. The restaurant was close to the Tower of London, so we went to check it out. As far as the haunted history we got a great one with the Tower of London. This building has a total of 13 known ghosts. They even have a ghost of a bear. At around 1235 Henry III kept lots of wild animals at the Tower of London, even a bear. This bear is now still roaming around the door to the Jewel Room. Even the shortest reigning English queen is still haunting the place. Lady Jane Gray married Lord Guildford Dudley. Together they were executed a week later when the half-sister of the last king, the true ruler of England was declared by the council. Jane couldn’t leave the Tower of London behind and haunts it to this day.
After having a nice and filling dinner we walked around the city for a little while and we definitely had to stop to take a picture of The London Bridge. I don’t believe you have been to London if you haven’t gotten a picture of the bridge itself. The London Bridge doesn’t follow far behind the Tower of London with its haunted history. Under the bridge, the tombs have been used during one of the plague outbursts. In 2007 this plague pit was found and the workers found an unsettling amount of skeletons. Nowadays people still see shadow figures around this place and feel tugging on their clothes.
