Day Six: Yndesdalvegen

We left this beautiful place early in the morning because a storm was picking up, and we couldn’t sleep any longer. With the wind whistling through the mountaintops and the rain pounding on the tent, we got back in the car. But we did not leave before driving to the end of the route on top of the mountain, where there is another lake and even more snow.

Our lunch stop today was the city of Bergen. This was the first day we were a bit unlucky with the weather, so we put on our waterproof boots and jackets and went to the city. I was a bit sad to see that there were way more modern buildings than old ones, but we did find this small church there.

After a while, the rain became a lot more intense, and we decided to look for a museum to take shelter in. We ended up at the Bergen Nautical Museum. We learned a lot about the Vikings and the way they buried their important persons so they could go to Walhalla. They offer their best ship and place the deceased person in it with more than enough stuff to make the journey and then burn it. Some of the vessels are burned on the sea, and others are burned on land, after which they get buried under the ground.

After the museum and lunch in Bergen, we got back in the car and drove to where we are now. This afternoon, we decided to go somewhere that has a bit more shelter from the elements because there will be a lot of rain and wind this night.
