Day three: Staxigoe
The morning we walked outside the hotel in the light for the first time and there were ruins more closely than we thought. We parked our car right in front of it in the dark yesterday. It was an amazing sunrise through the ruins. We even saw a squirrel run right in front of us.
We took the sun with us on our trip up to Scotland and this made the views beautiful and golden. It felt almost like autumn instead of winter. The landscape is a lot more orange and green than we had thought it would be during the winter.
With us being in Scotland we had to drive past Loch Ness. We sadly didn’t see Nessie, but she was probably hiding beneath the waves. It was quite busy on the roads and at the sightseeing places and I think she’s a bit shy. We were too far above the water to explore beneath the surface, but there’s always next time.
We didn’t keep it dry during the whole day and some of the real English weather arrived, but with a bit of rain, this rainbow came. It stayed inside for more than half an hour until we drove underneath it and it disappeared.
A little after sunset we arrived at the house we will be staying at for the next few days. This evening we will make ourselves at home inside and tomorrow we will go exploring. It feels good to have a home base for a few days and to be able to cook ourselves dinner.
