Winter is coming

Another rainy start of the day for us and this time heavy rain. The water under the bridge we needed to cross was this morning a lot more wild as yesterday afternoons.

We went all the way up into the mountains with the highest point of 1428m. It got cold here with only 2,5 degrees and whole lakes were frozen over. The snow one some places was even more than a meter thick. The rain turned to hail and our summer jackets weren’t enough to keep us warm but for such a view I don’t mind freezing my toes off for a little while.

We went higher than the clouds and without the rain and hail it was quite nice up here, but for the night we wanted a place a bit more sheltered from the wind, but this is definitely a place to come back to on a less windy day or when sleeping in a van instead of a rooftop tent.

On our way down the mountains we saw some more wildlife. This little creature crossed the road in front of our car with his baby or his lunch. We are still not sure which of the two it was.
