Day six: Staxigoe

It was another morning in Staxigoe, but this one started a bit differently. A big storm woke us up, and the waves hitting land were massive. The seagulls here didn't seem to mind, so it must happen often. The sound of the waves hitting the shore is a sound that always sounds different, but it is quite calming.

We made it our mission to find the most beautiful place to see the sun come up and I think the picture below proves that we did find a perfect one today. With the water in the air from the waves, the sun and the lighthouse right on the edge of a cliff. We stayed right in this place for a while to take the view in before we wend on with our journey.

What we also found there was this mansion. We weren’t able to get closer to it, but with a big lens on the camera, we still got pretty close. I wonder if there’s still someone living in this one as an even older mansion on the same property. That one is a ruin, so there isn’t anyone living in it anymore.

At the end of the world, John o’Groats, the weather was nice and the waves were still high. We wanted to walk to the end of the pier but had to stay back on the shore to avoid getting wet socks.

New Year’s Eve is always the longest night of the year and every year we try to find a way to get through the night. We decided to watch a good movie, play some games and eat some nice snacks. While I write this it’s still quiet here, but there are still a few hours left in the day.
